SERC Splash n Dash 2022

The Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC) in conjunction with Parvilla Cycles and Crossing Currents Aquatics are pleased to bring the 1st Splash n Dash race to the SERC Campus. 

The Splash ‘N Dash is a short course aquathon featuring a 800m swim and a 5K run. The race provides beginners with a fun introduction to multisport and veterans with a great way to test their fitness and racing skills. Athletes and spectators alike will enjoy SERC's scenic and friendly atmosphere – at Smithsonian Environmental Research Center, Edgewater, MD.

This event will be professionally timed by Blue Cheetah Sports Timing, LLC.

The race is limited to 50 participants, so sign up early.

Race Day Check-In: – 4:00-4:45 pm
Race Starts: – 5:00 pm

Course Information:

Race limited to 50 participants
Swim: 800m – open water swim in the Rhode River. (Course will be marshalled by lifeguards)
Transition: A transition area will be provided for athletes to store their race gear.
Run: Scenic 5K run thru the Contee Watershed Trail.

No practice swims will be allowed in advance of the race date.  If you would like to run the course in advance of race day, you can do that during SERC’s hours of 8am-6pm, Monday-Saturday.

Please consider volunteering for the Splash & Dash if you cannot or do not want to race. This event cannot happen without the help of volunteers. Please email to volunteer 

Spectators are welcome, but no pets are allowed on the SERC campus. We love animals, but we ask that you leave your pets at home because we are an active research facility and a wildlife sanctuary.
